Center of Gravity 2011 was a massive success for the Wet Ape team. For the first time in its 4 year history, Canada’s Hottest Beach Festival was completely SOLD OUT, with a crowd of over 20,000 people during the 3 day sport and music event.
The sports action saw huge crowds coming out to support local and professional athletes all weekend long. The action sports; FMX, Freestyle Mountain Biking, and Wakeboarding threw down some sick comps/jams throughout the weekend and were a big hit with the festival goers. The boys in the Dirt Zone made some sweet feature changes to the Freestyle Mountain Bike course, giving the riders a new layout to play around with. The Water Zone had a cool combination of both wakeboarders and wakeskaters that made for some wicked jam sessions. A new zone added for 2011 was the “Urban Zone” featuring local BMX and Skateboard athletes rippin up a course built by The Bakery Boardshop. The Professional Mens/Womens Beach Volleyball, and 4 vs 4 Open Basketball Tournaments featured some of the best athletes in Canada and the US competing for the top prizes.

The concerts proved to be the most popular events during the weekend. With 3 stages featuring different genres of music there was plenty of diversity for everyone. The Bass Stage was a new addition to the 2011 event and featured some big names in Dubstep and Hip Hop including; Downlink, Mat the Alien and Snak the Ripper. This stage was an open area for anyone with festival passes to enjoy. The Beach Stage located within the beverage gardens was all electronic/dance music, headliners Bad Boy Bill and LA Riots created one massive beach party all weekend long. The Sun FM Main Stage featured some of the worlds biggest names in music and the line-up rivalled that of other major music festivals in the area. Featuring rock, hip-hop, dance, and electro-funk there was something for everyone to enjoy and all of the artists put on upbeat, fun live shows. Artists included: DJ A-Trak, Calvin Harris, Chromeo, Dev and The Cataracs, Classified, Dragonette, Sweet Thing, Zeds Dead, Dirty Radio and More!
